Dogs enter our foster program from owner surrenders, shelters, animal control facilities, puppy mills, and breeder releases. Our foster families transform lives through patience, compassion, and their commitment to our mission of rescuing with faith.
Fostering is deeply rewarding, but it requires dedication. Foster families welcome a dog into their home and provide love, care, and attention until the dog is adopted. Many dogs arrive with medical, behavioral, or emotional challenges from their previous experiences.
You will not foster alone. Through our mentor program, you will be paired with an experienced volunteer who can provide guidance and support whenever you need it.

Provide your foster dog with nutritious, high-quality food.
NBSTR reimburses pre-approved veterinary expenses when established approval guidelines are followed.
Send all veterinary records and medical updates to our Treasurer.
Attend adoption events with your foster dog at PetSmart and other locations.
Work with our Applications Team to find the best possible match. Because you know your foster dog best, you provide final approval for their adoption.
Help your foster dog heal, grow, and begin a happy new life with their forever family.
" The number one reason people tell me they can't foster is that it would "break" their heart to give up the dog. Many times in the last 5 years I've felt like my heart was breaking as I said goodbye to one of my fosters. Many times I've said, "I can't do this again." Then I remember my heart didn't break, it just cracked a little. Please consider fostering for a rescue group or shelter. Fostering saves lives and I guarantee your heart won't break."
