Fostering For Us

The dogs brought into our rescue program as fosters come from surrendering owners, shelters or pounds, puppy mills, and breeder releases.  Our foster homes have worked miracles with dogs, given selflessly and made our credo of "rescue with faith" the truth behind our success.

While fostering has many rewards, it is not for everyone. When you foster, you agree to take a dog into your home and give him or her love, care and attention, UNTIL THE DOG IS ADOPTED.  Our dogs are far from perfect and often enter rescue with "baggage" from their previous lives.  We have a mentor program. You will be matched with an experienced volunteer who will be your go to person. Help is only a phone call/email away.

Your Fostering Responsibilities

Feeding

When you take a dog into your home, you are responsible for feeding them a high quality food.

Vet Cost Reimbursement

We will reimburse for vetting costs providing you following our pre-approval guidelines.

Updating Medical Information

You will be responsible for sending Vet Records to our Treasurer.

Attending Adoption Events

You and your foster will attend adoption events at Pet Smart and other locations.

Help Find a New Home

You will work with our Applications team to find the best possible forever home for your foster.   You will have the final approval for the adoption of your foster dog.

Ultimately

You will help them heal and move on to their forever home.

Foster Mom Shelia says it all

" The number one reason people tell me they can't foster is that it would "break" their heart to give up the dog. Many times in the last 5 years I've felt like my heart was breaking as I said goodbye to one of my fosters. Many times I've said, "I can't do this again." Then I remember my heart didn't break, it just cracked a little. Please consider fostering for a rescue group or shelter. Fostering saves lives and I guarantee your heart won't break."
